What is Studio Østergaard? Name and URL change

Hello! I’m Josephine. Over my years of being online I’ve gone by a few different names, yozegami being the longest running.

I have many interests and I tend to jump between them. While building an art career I started making dice, then candles. They got their own shop under Munin Dice & Candle Co. The problem with these different branches is managing multiple sites and accounts. Having two online shops also gets expensive.

So last year I had the idea to gather everything I make under one name. Østergaard is my middle name and Studio Østergaard has been the name of my business entity for some time. I think I got too caught up in what everyone was doing by separating everything - most people only do candles or art and don’t make other things.

I also hit major burnout and gave up on an art career. Freelance just wasn’t for me. Making art on commission took all the fun out of making it and looking back there are several things I wish I had done differently in my twenties. Part of that was making illustrations to try to fit into a market or industry, instead of trying to find my own original style and subjects. For a while, this was my portfolio site. I did have success tabling at conventions and the site turned into my online shop.

So, instead of separated islands for all my projects, I’m gathering everything under one name and website. I may as well accept the fact I have multiple interests, and I hope that this will create more cohesion, whatever direction I end up going in the future.
