US customs and new fee hike shipping prices

As I write this, the shipping price for a single, 210g candle has just jumped from $23.4 / €20 to $35 / €30, an increase of 150%. This is due to customs fees and a new handling fee ($7.4/€6.4) from Postnord. I must saý I am at a loss. Up until now I’ve had the shipping cost at $14.8 / €12.7, eating the remaining amount to try to keep the price somewhere near reasonable. But with this increase, paying nearly the same for shipping as for the item itself - it’s just too much.

From the beginning, you US folks have been a great and loyal support and I fear that these new shipping prices are prohibitive. I already see it in the sales for this year and I completely get it. To me, the shipping cost was already pretty high, now it’s getting ridiculous.

I wanted to write this to be transparent about whats happening and why I have to increase the price for the US. And also to say that I think it’s too damn high and I completely get it if you choose not to buy this year.

I suppose we can only hope for a change in the future. In the meantime I wish everyone a merry Christmas and happy holiday season.

Also, kind of a bummer for a first post, but I decided to reinstate the blog as a place for site news. I like having an archive rather than just updating a text field on the front page. Maybe this can be a place to talk process and share what I’m working on.
